Thank you Mauro! It was super interesting for me to think that the reason someone is put in a decision maker position (their expertize, the need for an aproval) is exactly what makes them worse at that role. + It was a fun to draw 🙂
Curious to hear your process, If judging on your newsletter you seem to have a good way to let the creativity express itself, not sure if the same happens at work.
Oh is pretty simple. First I try to understand if a solution is creative “per se” or if it actually brings an innovative solution to a problem. Creativity is necessary and is what makes a company successful but being creative for the sake of being creative it’s not always the best business model. If the solution is ok then I investigate how and what its adoption impacts at all levels. Last, the critical question: does this in the long term will make money or reduce costs? I know it seems a “cold” and shortsighted process but business is made of cold numbers and, at the end of the month, I guess nobody wants creativity, just the money on the bank account.
That said I often adopt very creative solutions and, well, a few times I had to admit that it didn’t work nicely. It’s part of the process too 😂
Sounds reasonable and effective 🙂, using the "Why/Potential" mindset to look at the long term impact, and using the "How/Best" to evaluate adoption and immediate impacts.
Thanks Zinalton! Have you seen the mechanisms described happening around you? Did you thought about other aspects why it is so hard for creative ideas to get implemented?
Yes, I have observed the effect of unworthiness during the creative process. The "I don't deserve it" has sabotaged the birth of creative ideas right from their conception. This happened to me as well, and I hadn't identified it until my therapist accurately pointed out this pattern in me. Together, we worked to resolve it. It was liberating.
That is an interesting one, not the fear that the idea may fail, but that it may succeed. I hadn't thought about that, I guess it may be similar to an imposter syndrome, glad to hear it is something you have overcome!
Good post Lud! I like the "Experts and Decision makers are worse a selecting Creative ideas!" section so much

And I couldn’t avoid to think about me, how I take decisions and select creative ideas. That’s a great lesson.

Great text, it made me reflect on the subject.
