"The Cultural Map" Illustrated!
Decode cross-cultural thinking in this visual summary of Erin's Meyer Bestseller book!
This week, we will dive into the 8 scales described in Erin Meyer’s Book “The Cultural Map”. They should help us understand and navigate cultural differences across countries that her research found.
For each category, you will find:
An illustration I made
An excerpt from the book describing the two dimensions used for each category, and showing where a few countries are in the spectrum
A poll, so that you can share where you think you belong
If this post gets enough responses, I will later share the result, and maybe add as well a few tips from the book for people working on an international context.
Don’t hesitate to forward this to some friends / network. I’m very curious to see all of your responses.
Of course, you should never judge individuals based on stereotypes, however when aggregating data from the different countries, Erin found some clear differences that can sometime explain the challenges experienced when navigating cultures further from our own.
Enjoy the exploration of the Cultural Map, and let me know your thoughts! (email or comments)

Hope you enjoyed discovering or rediscovering the Cultural Map!
Looking forward for your responses!
Loved how you illustrate, share reference to styles associated with geography and provide a poll for users to engage. Nice engagement approach Lud!
